Best Fire Pit Brands

Six brands worth knowing, what each one is genuinely best at, and the single pit we would buy from each of them.

By Stephen V.Last updated How we pick

Solo Stove is the brand to buy if you want one answer and no research. It created the modern smokeless category, the 2.0 revision fixed the one real complaint about the original by making the ash pan removable, and the 19.5-inch Bonfire is the size that suits the largest number of gardens. You pay a brand premium. In return you get the pit with the most accessories, the most resale value and the fewest surprises.

But “best brand” in this category depends entirely on what you are buying. Nobody makes the best smokeless pit, the best cheap steel bowl, the best propane bowl and the best fire table. Solo Stove does not make a fire table worth buying; Endless Summer does not make a smokeless pit; Breeo does not make anything cheap; Sunnydaze does not make anything premium. This page is organized by brand because that is how people shop, and the useful content is the sentence that tells you which of them is irrelevant to your purchase.

One structural thing to know before you spend: a brand premium in fire pits mostly buys material and fit, not heat. A 36-inch plain steel bowl from a value brand throws more warmth than a 19.5-inch premium smokeless pit, for a third of the price. What the premium brands sell is less smoke in your eyes, a body that will still look right in ten years, and ash handling that takes thirty seconds. Those are real things. They are just not output, and a brand name has never made a fire hotter.

How this is funded:we earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which pit or heater we recommend, and we’ll tell you when we’d skip one. Full disclosure.

1
Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 with Stand

Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 with Stand

The default smokeless fire pit, and the one most people should buy. At 19.5 inches it is big enough to throw a real circle of heat and small enough that two people can move it off the patio, and the 2.0 revision added the removable base plate and ash pan that the original badly needed — you tip the ash out instead of upending the whole pit. You pay a brand premium over a plain steel bowl, and the double-wall airflow only works properly on dry wood, but nothing else at this size is as easy to light, as clean-burning or as simple to put away.

2
Breeo X Series 24 Corten Steel

Breeo X Series 24 Corten Steel

The large Breeo, and the direct rival to a Solo Stove Yukon. At 27.5 inches across it takes full splits and heats a proper circle, and in Corten it is the version built to be left where you put it — there is no sensible way to carry this around anyway. If you are choosing between this and the stainless X24, the question is purely cosmetic and about 190 dollars: Corten goes rust-brown and settles, stainless stays bright and shows heat marks.

3
Sunnydaze Crossweave 36" Wood Burning Fire Pit

Sunnydaze Crossweave 36" Wood Burning Fire Pit

A big, plain, honest 36-inch fire bowl — no double wall, no secondary burn, no clever airflow. It will smoke, and that is the deal: you get nearly twice the fire area of a 19-inch smokeless pit for a fraction of the price, and a wide shallow bowl like this is the easiest thing in the world to light, feed and clean out. If your seating is spread out and your budget is real, raw diameter buys more warmth than engineering does.

4
TIKI Brand Patio 25-Inch Smokeless Fire Pit

TIKI Brand Patio 25-Inch Smokeless Fire Pit

The value answer in smokeless. At 25 inches it sits between a Bonfire and a Yukon on size, it ships with a cover on this listing, and it typically lands for well under the price of either. TIKI's own wood packs are sized for it, which is convenient and also the catch — the pit is tuned around short, dry fuel, so long splits need cutting down. If the Solo Stove premium is what is stopping you buying a smokeless pit, this is the one to look at first.

5
Outland Living Portable Propane Fire Pit 21" (58,000 BTU)

Outland Living Portable Propane Fire Pit 21" (58,000 BTU)

The same 58,000 BTU burner in a 21-inch bowl instead of 19. The extra two inches spreads the same gas over a wider flame, which looks better and feels marginally less concentrated — it does not make it hotter. Pick this one if the pit will be the centerpiece of a seating circle and you want the fire to read as big; pick the 19-inch if you will be carrying it in and out of a car.

6
Endless Summer 44" x 32" Rectangular LP Gas Fire Pit Table (40,000 BTU)

Endless Summer 44" x 32" Rectangular LP Gas Fire Pit Table (40,000 BTU)

The rectangular format is the one to buy if the table has to work as a table. At 44 by 32 inches there is real surface on both sides of the burner, so six people can sit round it with plates and glasses rather than balancing things on a four-inch ledge. Forty thousand BTU is lower than the budget squares, which matters less than you would think on a long burner — it is spread over more linear flame. It is the most expensive fire table here and the only one that looks like it belongs with a dining set.

The picks in full

#1Solo Stove — best all-round brand

Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 with Stand

The default smokeless fire pit, and the one most people should buy. At 19.5 inches it is big enough to throw a real circle of heat and small enough that two people can move it off the patio, and the 2.0 revision added the removable base plate and ash pan that the original badly needed — you tip the ash out instead of upending the whole pit. You pay a brand premium over a plain steel bowl, and the double-wall airflow only works properly on dry wood, but nothing else at this size is as easy to light, as clean-burning or as simple to put away.

What’s good

  • 19.5-inch body is the sweet spot — real heat without a two-person lift
  • 2.0 removable ash pan means emptying it is a 30-second job
  • Stand is included on this listing, so you are not buying it separately
  • Lights fast and burns down to almost nothing when the wood is dry

Trade-offs

  • Costs well over double a plain steel fire bowl of the same diameter
  • Smokeless only works on properly seasoned wood — wet logs smoke like anything else
  • No cover or lid included at this price
  • Radiates sideways, not up: it warms a circle, not a deck

#2Breeo — best buy-it-for-life brand

Breeo X Series 24 Corten Steel

The large Breeo, and the direct rival to a Solo Stove Yukon. At 27.5 inches across it takes full splits and heats a proper circle, and in Corten it is the version built to be left where you put it — there is no sensible way to carry this around anyway. If you are choosing between this and the stainless X24, the question is purely cosmetic and about 190 dollars: Corten goes rust-brown and settles, stainless stays bright and shows heat marks.

What’s good

  • 27.5 inches takes full-length splits without cutting
  • Corten is the right material for something left outdoors year-round
  • Thick wall and simple construction — very little to go wrong
  • Meaningfully cheaper than the stainless version of the same pit

Trade-offs

  • Heavy enough that siting it is a two-person, one-time job
  • Will mark a pale patio as the patina runs in the first rains
  • Burns a lot of wood when run at full size
  • Lid, cover and sear plate are all extra
TypeDouble-wall smokeless wood-burning fire pit

#3Sunnydaze — best value brand

Sunnydaze Crossweave 36" Wood Burning Fire Pit

A big, plain, honest 36-inch fire bowl — no double wall, no secondary burn, no clever airflow. It will smoke, and that is the deal: you get nearly twice the fire area of a 19-inch smokeless pit for a fraction of the price, and a wide shallow bowl like this is the easiest thing in the world to light, feed and clean out. If your seating is spread out and your budget is real, raw diameter buys more warmth than engineering does.

What’s good

  • 36 inches — by far the most fire area per dollar here
  • Nothing to go wrong: it is a bowl with legs
  • Easy to light, easy to feed, easy to shovel out
  • Takes full-length splits without any cutting

Trade-offs

  • Not smokeless — you will move your chair at some point
  • Painted steel needs a cover if it lives outdoors
  • Big enough that siting it needs real clearance
  • Spark screen sold separately — worth adding
TypeOpen wood-burning fire pit bowl

#4TIKI — best smokeless on a budget

TIKI Brand Patio 25-Inch Smokeless Fire Pit

The value answer in smokeless. At 25 inches it sits between a Bonfire and a Yukon on size, it ships with a cover on this listing, and it typically lands for well under the price of either. TIKI's own wood packs are sized for it, which is convenient and also the catch — the pit is tuned around short, dry fuel, so long splits need cutting down. If the Solo Stove premium is what is stopping you buying a smokeless pit, this is the one to look at first.

What’s good

  • 25-inch body for roughly the price of a 19-inch premium pit
  • Cover included on this listing
  • Light enough for one person to move when cold
  • Burns down very cleanly on short, dry fuel

Trade-offs

  • Wants short cut fuel — full splits need sawing down
  • Thinner steel than Breeo at a similar size
  • TIKI's own wood packs are convenient but not cheap
  • No removable ash pan
TypeDouble-wall smokeless wood-burning fire pit
Diameter25" (per the listing)
MaterialStainless steel
Cover includedYes — per the listing

#5Outland Living — best propane brand

Outland Living Portable Propane Fire Pit 21" (58,000 BTU)

The same 58,000 BTU burner in a 21-inch bowl instead of 19. The extra two inches spreads the same gas over a wider flame, which looks better and feels marginally less concentrated — it does not make it hotter. Pick this one if the pit will be the centerpiece of a seating circle and you want the fire to read as big; pick the 19-inch if you will be carrying it in and out of a car.

What’s good

  • Wider 21-inch bowl spreads the flame more convincingly
  • Same 58,000 BTU burner as the 19-inch
  • Cover and carry kit included per the listing
  • Still portable, just bulkier

Trade-offs

  • Costs more than the 19-inch for the same heat output
  • Bigger footprint to store and transport
  • Tank still separate
  • Same wind sensitivity as any gas pit

#6Endless Summer — best fire table brand

Endless Summer 44" x 32" Rectangular LP Gas Fire Pit Table (40,000 BTU)

The rectangular format is the one to buy if the table has to work as a table. At 44 by 32 inches there is real surface on both sides of the burner, so six people can sit round it with plates and glasses rather than balancing things on a four-inch ledge. Forty thousand BTU is lower than the budget squares, which matters less than you would think on a long burner — it is spread over more linear flame. It is the most expensive fire table here and the only one that looks like it belongs with a dining set.

What’s good

  • 44 x 32 inches gives genuine usable table surface either side of the burner
  • Linear burner looks better on a rectangle than a round burner does
  • White fire glass included per the listing
  • Ceramic tile top is cooler to the touch than painted steel

Trade-offs

  • Most expensive fire table in the registry
  • 40,000 BTU is a lower rating than the cheaper square tables

  • Tile tops can chip if something heavy is dropped on them

Solo Stove: the default, and what you pay for

Stainless steel, double-wall secondary burn, a very large accessory range and the strongest second-hand demand in the category. The 2.0 generation added the removable base plate and ash pan, which turns emptying a pit from a two-person tipping exercise into a thirty-second job. Sizes run from the tiny Mesa up through the 19.5-inch Bonfire to the 27-inch Yukon.

What you are paying for is finish, consistency and the ecosystem — lids, stands, shelters, hubs and a Pi pizza attachment all designed to fit. What you are not paying for is more heat than a similarly sized rival. If you want the brand at its best, the Bonfire is the size that suits most patios, and the Yukon is the one to buy for a crowd. Our smokeless fire pits page ranks the whole field it competes in.

Breeo: the one to buy if it is never moving

Breeo’s distinguishing choice is Corten weathering steel, which is designed to form a stable rust-colored patina instead of corroding through. It means a Breeo looks deliberately weathered rather than neglected after a few seasons outdoors, and it is why these pits suit a permanent spot in a garden. The X Series 24 measures 27.5 inches across the outside, and the X Series 30 is 34.5 inches.

Two honest cautions. Corten is heavy — this is not a pit you carry — and the patina will mark a light patio slab underneath it, so plan the surface. Lids are sold separately on the Corten models. If you are deciding between the two big names, Solo Stove vs Breeo is the head-to-head, and best Breeo fire pits covers the range on its own terms.

Sunnydaze: the value brand that nobody talks about

Sunnydaze makes more different fire products than anyone else here — plain steel bowls, cast iron bowls, chimineas, fire pit rings, smokeless pits, covers and racks — almost all of it in the budget and mid bands. The 36-inch Crossweave bowl is the clearest expression of what the brand is for: a genuinely large open fire for roughly a third of what a premium 19-inch smokeless pit costs.

The trade is smoke and finish. A single-wall open bowl smokes like a campfire, because it is one, and the paint and steel will not look new in five years the way Corten or stainless does. For a lot of gardens that is exactly the right trade. The brand also owns the ring and insert category if you are building a stone surround — see best fire pit rings.

TIKI Brand: smokeless, mainstream, cover included

TIKI is the brand most people have already heard of from garden torches, and its 25-inch smokeless patio pit is the sensible middle of this whole page: double-wall stainless, bigger than a Bonfire, a cover included on the listing, at a mid price. It also sells its own wood pellet packs for the pit, which is unusual and occasionally convenient.

It does not have the accessory depth of Solo Stove or the material story of Breeo, and the listing does not publish an ash pan arrangement, which on a 25-inch pit matters. But it is the brand that makes smokeless affordable at a real size, and our TIKI fire pit review goes through it in detail.

Outland Living and Endless Summer: the gas specialists

Outland Livingowns portable propane. The 19 and 21-inch bowls both publish 58,000 BTU, both include a cover and carry kit, and they are the pits people take to campgrounds and use where open wood fires are restricted. Budget priced, unglamorous, and the best answer in their lane — best propane fire pits ranks the category.

Endless Summer makes fire tables rather than fire pits, which is a different product with a different job: a flat usable surface, table or coffee-table height, propane, and a look that reads as patio furniture. The 44 by 32-inch rectangular table publishes 40,000 BTU and includes fire glass. If what you want is somewhere to put a drink, best fire pit tables is the page.

Two brands worth knowing that are not ranked here

Blue Sky Outdoor Living makes smokeless pits whose selling point is a lift-out ash catch, which is the single most tedious part of owning a wood pit. Worth a look if emptying is your complaint.

Montana Fire Pitsis a handmade, direct-sold gas fire table maker from Missoula that does not compete on any retail listing at all, because it does not sell through one. It publishes no price range on its homepage, so we cover it without a number — our Montana Fire Pits review explains what the brand is and who it suits. That is the pattern across the top of this market: once you leave the retail channel, brands sell direct and stop publishing comparable figures.

Whichever brand you land on, the FTC’s own shopping advice applies with unusual force in a category this full of lookalikes: note the exact manufacturer and model number when you compare, rather than the brand name and a photograph. Two pits from the same brand at the same diameter can be different steel, and a “was” price is only legitimate if the item was actually offered at it on a regular basis.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best fire pit brand?

Solo Stove, if you want one answer with the fewest surprises — it created the smokeless category, the 2.0 ash pan makes emptying trivial, and the accessory range and resale value are the strongest here. But the best brand depends on the product: Sunnydaze for maximum fire per dollar, Breeo for a permanent Corten pit, Outland Living for portable propane, Endless Summer for fire tables.

Is Solo Stove or Breeo better?

Solo Stove for a pit you may move, store or sell on; Breeo for a pit that will sit in one spot forever. The material is the real difference — stainless steel stays as it is, while Breeo's Corten weathering steel forms a stable rust-colored patina by design. Corten is also considerably heavier and will mark a light patio slab beneath it.

Are expensive fire pit brands worth it?

They buy less smoke, better material and far easier ash handling — not more heat. A 36-inch plain steel bowl from a value brand throws more warmth than a 19.5-inch premium smokeless pit at a third of the price. Pay the premium if smoke in your eyes and a pit that still looks right in ten years matter to you; do not pay it expecting a warmer fire.

Which fire pit brand is best value?

Sunnydaze. It makes more different fire products than anyone else here — plain bowls, cast iron, chimineas, rings, covers — almost all in the budget and mid bands, and its 36-inch Crossweave bowl is the clearest case: a genuinely large open fire for roughly a third of a premium smokeless pit's price. You accept campfire smoke and a finish that ages.

What brand makes the best smokeless fire pit for the money?

TIKI Brand. Its 25-inch patio pit is double-wall stainless, larger than a Solo Stove Bonfire, includes a cover on the listing, and sits at a mid price rather than a premium one. It lacks the accessory depth of Solo Stove and does not publish its ash pan arrangement, which on a 25-inch pit is a real omission.

Why do some fire pit brands not list prices?

Because they sell direct rather than through retail. Montana Fire Pits is the example here: a handmade gas fire table maker that takes orders through its own site and publishes no price range on its homepage. We cover brands like that without a number rather than quoting a stale one, which is the honest option when there is no live listing to read.
